Engagement Session Ideas in Southern Indiana

Warmer weather is on the horizon and engagement sessions will soon be in full swing! This leads us to the question, where will you take your engagement photos? As a Louisville wedding photographer, who lives in southern Indiana, I feel like I have an advantage of knowing the best spots on both sides of the river.

The person who makes the final say on where we go for my couples’ engagement session is them because I want it to be a true reflection of who they are as a couple. However, if they need help with ideas I have an engagement session guide filled with options and advice to help!

Here are a few questions to help us pick the right location for you and your fiancée.

  1. Is there a location that’s meaningful to you? Maybe where you had your first date or somewhere you like to go for a date night?

  2. Are you two more adventurous or lowkey and chill? Is it common to find you in a hot air balloon or feeding each other ice cream on the kitchen floor?

  3. Does the countryside feel more like “home” or do you both love to explore downtown?

  4. Would you like to have a planned date night at your wedding venue?

Answering these questions will help lead us to the right spot for you! For my personal engagement session, my photographer picked a location with a beautiful historic home and the property had a massive horse pasture. I think horses are beautiful animals, BUT I have never been on or close to one, until that day. If you asked me what my favorite animal is the first answer would not be horses and the same for my now husband. Yet our engagement photos are all around them, horse trailers, and a barn. There is no meaningful connection to them. Looking back, I wish I could ask for something more special to us as a reminder of who WE were as a couple during that season of life.
