The Refinery North vs. South
A Modern and Classic Wedding Venue Located in Jeffersonville, Indiana
Let’s talk about one of my favorite Indiana wedding venues, The Refinery! One of the number one things to look for in a wedding venue is the location. The Refinery knocks this one out of the park since it is located right on the river in Jeffersonville, Indiana, and easily accessible off of I-65. Meaning people who are bad with directions like me will easily find your venue and will NOT be late for the ceremony. Some other pluses? Plenty of parking for guests and 20 hotels are in less than a 1.5-mile radius!
Now that we know The Refinery marks off the location needs, let’s take a closer look at which space is right for you.
Highlights: 6,000 Sq Ft, L Shaped Floor Plan, Second Floor, Getting Ready Space, Access to Court Yard, Holds 350 Guests.
I have shot many weddings at the Refinery North location and never thought, “man it is tight in here!” The venue has plenty of space so guests can mingle and it still has the vibe of being very personal and intimate. A favorite feature of mine at The Refinery North is the balcony. I LOVE grabbing shots from this angle. This isn’t something you can get at any wedding which makes it so unique and gives your gallery a little something extra.
The North is also filled with natural light. If Mother Nature isn’t on our side due to rain or the heat the inside is photo-ready. This is HUGE my friend when deciding on a venue. Will the inside space still fit your vibe and vision if ALL the photos had to take place inside? At The Refinery that is not a problem.
A space is provided for the bridal party to get ready. I do feel it is spacious for small to medium size bridal parties! I will be honest and say that my heart is with the Bolt + Tie Suite. If any of my couples get married at The Refinery I will peer pressure them to book the Bolt + Tie because my goodness it is EVERYTHING you want and need! Plus access to the rooftop during sunset?! Just do yourself a favor and book it, you will thank me later!

Out of the two spaces at The Refinery, I have personally shot more weddings in The South. It is a popular option for my couples to get married in the courtyard and then have the reception in the South location. I do believe this is the ultimate setup because it’s the best of both worlds in terms of having a beautiful outdoor wedding and the safety of an inside space that is equally as stunning.
The open floor plan is beneficial so no matter where you are in the room you know what is going on and will not miss any special moments. You will be a part of the party no matter where you sit or roam about. Like The North, The South is also surrounded by big windows that flood the space with beautiful lighting. The rooms were so well thought-out and there isn’t anything that I wish were different from a photographers prospective.
At The South location, you will also have a getting-ready spot that marks off everything you could want or need. However, Bolt + Tie is my Roman Empire friend! In all seriousness, I know you will be happy in any of the getting-ready rooms!
